IG Koome talks tough ahead of Azimio's Monday demos
Inspector General of police Japheth Koome has notified Kenyans of stringent measures against unlawful protests ahead of Azimio La Umoja demonstrations on Monday, March 27.
Talking to the press, the police boss said the ongoing protests piloted by opposition leader Raila Odinga are unlawful and the police will apply stringent measures to deal with the protestors.He added that anyone who takes to the streets and cause public unrest will be dealt with accordingly, regardless of their position.
However, he urged Kenyans to resume their routine as suspense overwhelms the country over Mondays and Thursdays fate as the Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga had declared them public holidays where he puts his energy into demonstrations. Mr. Koome called upon Kenyans to take their normal routines assuring serious action by police against those who defy the law.
Pressing on the issue, IG Koome also warned those who would be captured on photographs saying that the Department of Criminal Investigation will launch a manhunt for them.
