A man believed to be behind a string of murders in Narok town and its outskirts was arraigned in court on Monday. Musa Ole Sopia, also known by his alias Ololunga, is linked to several killings in the Ololulunga area of Narok South Constituency.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate Daniel Ngayo, the suspect declined to enter a plea. Magistrate Ngayo subsequently ordered a mental health evaluation to determine Ole Sopiaโs fitness to stand trial. Until the assessment is completed, the accused will remain in custody at Narok Prison, with his next court appearance scheduled for November 26, 2024.
Ole Sopia was arrested on October 30, 2024, at Ololulunga shopping centre in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old Congolese man. His apprehension followed growing public alarm over a rise in murder cases reported in the region between September and October.
The case has drawn significant attention from residents and authorities, as concerns about security in Narok continue to escalate.
